Secure your valuable assets with AML Crating’s expertly designed wooden crates, crafted to meet the highest standards for safe, efficient transport worldwide.
Custom Crating Services Built Around Your Asset
Every custom crate we build starts with the asset, not the box. Since 2011, AML Crating has designed and built custom wooden crates for equipment that cannot afford a rough trip: servers and sensitive electronics, industrial machinery, fine art, trade show displays, and oversized loads that no standard crate fits. Each build is measured and engineered for the item inside it, with foam lining available wherever the asset needs it.
Our crates are custom designed and built for durability, with bracing, cushioning, ventilation, and sealed environments available where the cargo calls for it. Built in Ottawa, shipped worldwide every week.

Our Custom Crate Types
Our commercial crates are custom designed and built for durability, and many can be reused for repeat shipping. They are built to withstand the heaviest cargo and protect the most delicate products. Browse the crate types below or get in touch to talk through what your shipment needs.
For heavy-duty machinery and large industrial components, our industrial crates offer serious protection. Built with reinforced materials, these crates are engineered to withstand the toughest shipping environments, so even your heaviest equipment arrives safely.
Servers, test equipment, and precision instruments travel with anti-static protection, engineered cushioning, and moisture control where the electronics require it. Handling indicators on the crate show the receiving team how it travelled.
Shipping the same product on repeat? Our production crating programs engineer the crate once and reproduce it identically on every order, with quicker production and pricing that improves at volume.
For larger, irregularly shaped items, we build custom heavy-duty platforms and oversized crates designed to accommodate substantial objects with maximum stability during transport, whatever the size or complexity of the shipment.
Versatility meets security with lift-vans designed for transport across modes. Whether the journey is by road, air, or sea, lift-vans offer a secure, adaptable solution for items of varying sizes and fragility.
Trade show crates are built for the round trip: sturdy enough to protect displays and equipment show after show, and designed for repeated packing, unpacking, and reuse on the exhibition circuit.
Transporting artwork requires extra care and precision. Our fine art crates are custom designed to the exact specifications of each piece, offering museum-quality protection with foam-lined interiors and climate considerations built into the design.

Shipping and Delivery
We handle domestic shipping anywhere in Canada, load your crated material for your carrier, or deliver your shipment to the airport. For international freight we are happy to arrange third-party quotes, and we attach any customs paperwork you provide. Customs and brokerage stay with your freight partner, while every export crate we build uses heat treated, ISPM-15 tracked lumber so the crate itself clears borders the first time.

We build industrial crates, sensitive electronics crates, pre-built production crates, heavy-duty platforms and oversized crates, road, air and sea lift-vans, trade show crates, and fine art custom crates. Open, closed, and fully custom-built designs are available, including ISPM-15 compliant builds for international shipping.
Each crate is designed around the item it protects. We measure the asset, review weight distribution and fragile points, and model high-value builds in 3D before construction. Blocking, bracing, and foam lining are engineered to the design, and you approve it before we build.
Yes. When equipment should not travel uncrated, our team comes to your location with materials and our own forklift, builds the crate around the item where it stands, and loads at your dock.
Yes. Export builds use heat treated, ISPM-15 stamped lumber tracked through the certification chain, which is what customs authorities require of wood packaging. That certification is crucial for avoiding delays or rejections at the border.
Crates are quoted by cubic foot and become more economical as they get bigger. Complexity factors like foam engineering, anti-static protection, and onsite work affect the price. Send us the product, quantity, dimensions, and packing requirements, and you will typically have a quote within 1 to 2 business days.
Anything where damage costs more than the crate: servers and test equipment, industrial machinery, fine art, pianos and instruments, trade show displays, and oversized or irregularly shaped loads. If a standard box would make you nervous, the item belongs in a custom crate.
Wooden crates carry structural loads that cardboard and cases cannot, protect against crushing and stacking in freight networks, can be engineered precisely to an item’s geometry, and, when heat treated and stamped, meet international shipping requirements.
Many can. Commercial crates are built for durability and repeat shipping, and for closed-loop logistics we design reusable crate systems built to last through delivery and come back for the next one.
